What is a UDID?

A UDID (Unique Device Identifier) is a 25-character code that uniquely identifies your iPhone or iPad. Developers need it for ad-hoc app distribution: Apple only lets an ad-hoc build install on devices whose UDIDs are registered in the provisioning profile.

3 ways to find your UDID

1. Without a computer (easiest)

Use our free UDID finder tool — open it on the iPhone, install a temporary profile, and your UDID appears on screen with a copy button. Takes 30 seconds.

2. With a Mac

Connect the iPhone → open Finder → select the device → click the text under the device name until UDID shows → right-click → Copy.

3. With iTunes (Windows)

Connect the device → open iTunes → device icon → Summary → click Serial Number until UDID appears → right-click → Copy.
