HOW TO GET IT

Three taps, no cables

This has to be done on the iPhone or iPad itself — the UDID cannot be read from another device.

STEP 01

Open this page on the device

Use Safari on the iPhone or iPad whose UDID you need. Other browsers cannot install profiles.

STEP 02

Install the profile

Tap Install profile, then confirm in Settings. It is a read-only profile signed for this purpose.

STEP 03

Copy and send it

Your UDID appears on screen. Tap to copy it and send it to whoever is signing the build.

Ready on your iPhone or iPad?

Tap below in Safari to install the profile. It only reads your UDID and device model — nothing else, and nothing stays behind.

What a UDID actually is

A 24 or 40 character identifier unique to your device. Apple uses it to decide which devices an ad-hoc build is allowed to run on.

Why developers ask for it

Ad-hoc distribution bakes a device list into the signing profile. Without your UDID in that list, the install simply fails.

What we keep

Nothing. The UDID is shown to you and not stored. Remove the profile afterwards in Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
